Final Cut Down Provides Few Surprises For Raiders

For the most part the preseason finale is more of a farewell than it is a welcome party. Just ask the 17 men that are now former Raiders after yesterday’s final roster trimming. While we welcome the official arrival of the regular season there are plenty of players that have now seen their NFL dreams either evaporate or at least get a temporary stay of execution via the practice squad.

Among Oakland’s 17 roster reductions the only mild surprise to some was the release of rookie 7th round pick Nathan Stupar.  Otherwise the final 53 looks like what you’d expect.

Perhaps the two most intriguing moves were the expected termination of Roscoe Parrish’s contract after his disastrous debut and the retaining of Coye Francise who had just the lone preseason finale to prove his worth.

Below are the remaining roster cuts.

Besides Stupar, the Raiders also waived LB Kaelin Burnett, K Eddy Carmona, WR Derek Carrier, WR Brandon Carswell, DE Hall Davis, TE Kyle Efaw, DL Dominique Hamilton, OL Kevin Haslam, OL Nick Howell, LB Chad Kilgore, OL Dan Knapp, WR Eddie McGee, C Colin Miller, RB Lonyae Miller, WR Travionte Sessionn and S Curtis Taylor.

S Brandon Underwood (hip/groin), TE Tory Humphrey (hamstring) and P Marquette King (toe) were put on the injured list.
