The NFL saved best for last on opening weekend. We already knew this but the world will soon find out once the Raiders and Chargers kickoff tonight. So with the regular season officially here and the Dennis Allen era set to begin it’s time for JBB to shift into game mode.
With that said we’re rolling out our traditional 5 Quirky Questions to help get you prepped for the action as only JBB can. Ernie Padaon runs Bolt Beat which just so happens to be the web’s best Chargers Blog. While I might not approve of his taste in football teams I always appreciate his expertise.
Without any further delay, here are those 5 questions for Ernie.
JBB: If the 2012 season for the Chargers were a highly anticipated movie release for this year which would it be and why?
Ernie Padaon: Can I just pick a team to compare them to? I would compare them to the Raiders of the last few seasons. Everyone knew that the team would be better without Al Davis, but just had to roll with it until something happened. We have Norv Turner bringing our ship down, like the TITANIC and it is just a mess to watch. Maybe he can steer the ship the right way, but I seem to say that every year.
JBB: Bigger immediate concern for San Diego: Chargers leaving SD or Mike Harris at left tackle?
EP: Mike Harris. If he can’t get the job done, then nobody will ever vote to keep the Chargers in San Diego in the first place. No pressure kid!
JBB: Ryan Mathews or Darren McFadden: Who plays more games in 2012?
EP: Ryan Mathews. Mathews already got his injury and decided to miss preseason games instead of taking the route of Darren McFadden and missing regular season games that count.
JBB: Norv Turner coaching the Chargers or the Davis family owning the Raiders: Which one will end first?
EP: Praying to God that Norv Turner coaching the Chargers ends first. That is crazy, because it almost seems that I am rooting for the Chargers to lose, but that is not the case. We can fire him if he goes 14-2 this season… but who does that?
And finally…the most important question of all
JBB: Malcom Floyd: Start or Sit?
EP: Start him. Philip Rivers will be in sync with only two receivers at the start of the year. Antonio Gates and Malcom Floyd will be your best bets to get points out of any pass catchers in San Diego.
