Raiders Sign Veteran DE Andre Carter

Stew Milne-US PRESSWIRE

It is painfully obvious that Reggie McKenzie didn’t at all care much for the roster he inherited from Al Davis. That is clear by how much turnover has occurred since his arrival as Oakland’s general manager. Come to think of it, McKenzie didn’t at all care much for many the 53 men that made the final cut coming out of camp as evident by the daily roster moves.

Today is yet another example of McKenzie’s desire to build a roster to his own liking as the Raiders cut ties with Joe Barksdale and replaced his roster spot with veteran defensive end Andre Carter.

Twice the Raiders brought in Carter for a visit. After seeing Oakland’s pass rush resemble an intellectual Kardashian (non-existent) McKenzie has decided to do something, anything, to get pressure on opposing QBs.

Last week was a sad reminder of just how ineffective the Raiders defense truly is. Big Ben was able to cook a brisket while finding open receivers all afternoon long. Were it not for some opportunistic defensive plays the Raiders would have been buried by Pittsburgh.

So hopefully the Oakland coaching staff can get the best of whatever Carter has left in the tank. Otherwise it’s back to the Green Bay trash bin for more help.

I like this signing for we have a better football player on D and a waste of a roster spot hitting the door. Reggie is King. Now if we can only get rid of DHB.
