Has one month of an NFL season ever felt so long? We knew this transition period was going to be rough. We just didn’t anticipate a full-rebuild only four games in.
As proof of how long the first month of the season has been I offer yesterday’s news of Aaron Curry being expected back at practice next week.
You remember him, don’t you? Weakside linebacker that plays with a chip on his shoulder as he’s out to prove worthy of his draft stock. Yeah…that guy.
Hard to believe it’s been a month since the Raiders shut him down for the first half of the season. Even more unbelievable is that we haven’t seen Curry since the end of last season. He was never cleared to participate in camp thus clearing the way for rookie Miles Burris to begin his NFL career as a starter.
It’s nice to know Curry’s knee is progressing in such a manner that he’ll be able to play one day in the near future. Honest truth is I doubt his presence will make much of a difference for this dismal defense. If I’m being even more honest I think whenever we see Curry again it will be his final appearance in Silver and Black.
