Aaron Curry’s return to practice this week in no way indicates he’ll return to the field of play on Sunday. Despite putting together consecutive practices this week Curry is still very much in doubt to make his debut this Sunday against Jacksonville.
That might be good news for Rolando McClain who would appear to be on barrowed time regarding future in Silver and Black. McClain has seen his play calling duties handed over to Philip Wheeler and his reps in nickel packages given to rookie Mile Burris.
If and when Curry gets back up to speed you can bet there will be even fewer reps to be found for McClain. Clearly the Reggie McKenzie regime was determined to give McClain a chance to prove himself. Obviously Dennis Allen has already seen enough.
Maybe McClain is better suited in his more natural position playing inside in a 3-4. We’ll have to wait and see on that one being that the Raiders aren’t exactly equipped to run the scheme fulltime. However if the wait lasts beyond this season odds are we won’t be seeing McClain playing in the 3-4 for the Raiders.
