In case you didn’t hear the news this morning Sebastian Janikowski was named the AFC’s Special Teams Player of the month for October. As Vic Tafur points out that’s the third time in six months Sebass has earned the honor.
For the month of October Jano made 10 of his 11 field goal attempts with his only miss coming at the end of regulation during Oakland’s win over Jacksonville. For the record that miss was a 64 yard attempt that would have been good for an all-time record. Oh, by the way, Sebass went on hit the game winner in OT of that contest so the 64 yard miss is kind of a footnote.
Maybe it’s time for the NFL to go ahead and put the name Sebastian Janikowki on the AFC’s Special Teams Player of the Month award. Dude has taken that honor by storm the last two years and there’s no reason to think that won’t continue.
After it is all said and done, Janikowski will go down as one of the great weapons in the history of the game. He’s already the all-time leading scorer in the history of pro football’s most iconic franchise and his name can be found all over the record books.
So get ready for the Sebastian Janikowski Player of the Month Award. It’s coming…even if that means we the people of Raider Nation have to champion the cause.
