Thanks to a one-day extension the Raiders were able to sell enough seats to avoid blackout this Sunday as the rival Chiefs come to town for the home finale. On the season this marks 7 of 8 home dates televised locally. It also continues the trend established last season as the Raiders have ducked the local blackout in 15 of the last 16 home dates.
Of course this does not mean there will be a capacity crowd in attendance Sunday. Oakland’s agreement with the league this season called for 85% of non-premium seats to be sold in order to keep the game on the air in the local market.
None the less it is a testament to the continued commitment of Raider Nation amid an otherwise dismal season.
