Last year, were it not for compensatory picks the Raiders wouldn’t have any draft at all to speak of. This year that’s not the case but it’s still nice to get a little more help given all the holes on the roster Reggie McKenzie must fill.
Today the Raiders got word that they’ve been granted an additional pick in the 6th round of the 2013 draft. The NFL’s complicated compensatory formula awarded Oakland an additional pick thanks to free agency defections of a year ago.
Makes you think Oakland will be awarded an additional first round pick next year given all the defections this year. I know, NFL nerds, the highest possible compensatory pick is at the end of the third round. I haven’t forgotten that’s how Oakland landed Tony Bergstrom last year.
