Raiders Sign DT Vance Walker

Another day, another defensive signing by Reggie McKenzie and the Oakland Raiders. Today it’s former Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Vance Walker that joins the Silver and Black.

If you’re unfamiliar with Walker then not to worry. The signing hardly qualifies as a headline grabber. Then again, that’s the case for most all of Oakland’s moves made in this free agency cycle.

Walker is a former 7th round pick out of Georgia Tech that has managed to remain employed in the brutal business of football for going on five years now. Last season was by far the best of his career as he started 9 games for the Flacons racking up 3 sacks. In addition Walker has seen action in all regular season games for Atlanta the last three seasons.

Whether or not Walker makes the Raiders roster coming out of camp remains to be seen. The roster is certainly in flux and you get the feeling McKenzie is pretty much just trying to see what sticks as this rebuild rolls along.
