Reggie McKenzie showed Terence Newman the money and the veteran cornerback chose to remain with the Cincinnati Bengals. That about says it all for the current state of our beloved Oakland Raiders.
Among the many holes on the Raiders’ roster is that of cornerback and to date nothing has been done to address the issue. The 35-year-old Newman is no longer the cover corner he once was during his best days in Dallas but he was certainly a prized target for the DB-starved Raiders.
Newman thanked Raider Nation for the love he was shown but instead cited his desire to remain with defensive coach Mike Zimmer as the reasoning for remaining in Cincy. Newman also reminded the football world that it isn’t all about the money as Oakland offered more.
Next on Oakland’s list is former Denver Bronco corner and one-time Dennis Allen disciple Tracy Porter who paid a visit to the East Bay on Friday.
