The Golf Channel’s Big Break will feature retired NFL players this season, pairing players including with male and female golfers trying to earn tour cards in a show which is a Golf Channel staple.
Amongst those retired NFL players will be Raiders legend Tim Brown as the former Raider great will pair himself with a lucky amateur for the show. Former Raider and 49er Jerry Rice will also join Brown as the two receiving legends will give Big Break more than enough star power this season.
“I have been a fan of Big Break for a long time, and I wanted to experience the pressure and excitement of competing on this series first-hand,” Rice said in a release. “The nerves we all faced on this show – knowing that everything potentially was on the line for your team with one golf shot – are experiences I will never forget.”
In addition to Rice and Brown, the show will also feature Marc Bulger, Al Del Greco, Chris Doleman and Mark Rypien as its NFL content. If you think these golfers won’t have game you are dead wrong, all of these football pros have the game on the links with single-digit handicaps.
The golfers they’re teamed with are trying to reach the pro tours, parlaying the chance at some cash, experience and exposure in their quest to become pros. The NFL players are in it for charity, playing for $50,000 donations to their charities.
The season was filmed in Puerto Rico, and will premiere on October 18.
