On the eve of training camp in what has been a nightmare of an offseason for the Denver Broncos from a PR standpoint, bad news continues to pile on the Denver Broncos.
Vic Lombardi reported early Monday morning that a prominent Broncos defensive starter will be suspended four games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, naturally as the morning has progressed we have been given more information as sources have uncovered a major story heading into the NFL preseason.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the player in question is linebacker Von Miller, a huge story considering Elvis Dumervil left Denver this offseason already and that Miller is one of the best defensive ends in the NFL.
Broncos LB Von Miller is facing 4-game suspension for violating NFL policy, per ESPN sources. Case currently in appeals process.

As assumed, Miller will appeal the suspension according to Lombardi.
It has been a series of incidents for the Broncos since the team broke from offseason workouts in June. Director of player personnel Matt Russell was arrested Fourth of July weekend for DUI after he crashed into two cars, one of them being a police officer.
The next week, news broke that director of pro personnel Tom Heckert was arrested June 11 for drunk driving. Both Russell and Heckert have been suspended by the team and the Broncos have been doing the best to curb the negative press and reports that have been coming their way, but there is no way that this story is going to help their cause.
The Broncos are hyped as a Super Bowl favorite heading into the 2013 season, but the loss of Miller now makes their first slate of four games much tougher considering elite QB’s Joe Flacco (Week One) and Eli Manning (Week Two) will be the Broncos first opponents during a potential four game Miller suspension.
Under the reported suspension Miller would also miss the Raiders-Broncos MNF meeting at Mile High Stadium in Week Three, a game that could now be much more interesting as the Broncos could potentially be 0-2 if their pass rush can’t get going without Miller.
We will continue to keep updated with this story as more developments come forward.
