Oakland Raiders VS. Dallas Cowboys Pre-Season Preview

The Oakland Raiders kick-off their 2013 Pre-Season against the Dallas Cowboys tonight. The following is a list of what you should know before heading to the game:

Event: Oakland Raiders VS. Dallas Cowboys

Where: Coliseum, Oakland, California

When: 7:00 PM Pacific Standard Time (PST)

Television: The game is blacked out locally with a tape delay on KICU.  However it will be live on NFL Network outside of the Bay Area.

Radio: Bay Area 102.1/98.5 KFOX

If you are attending the game, be aware of the new bag policy at the stadium. Most bags are now prohibited. That means purses, backpacks, binocular cases, camera cases, clear backpacks, tinted plastic bags, printed pattern plastic bags, fanny packs, seat cushions with pockets, oversized tote bags, diaper bags, and mesh bags will not be allowed. The only bags allowed are small clutch purses and clear bags like the one provided to Season Ticket Holders.

The same bags given to Season Ticket Holders will be on sale at the stadium for $3. You can also bring a zip-lock bag, up to one gallon in size, if you don’t have a clear bag or you don’t wish to purchase one.  A lot of people will likely not get this message and show up with their normal bags.  This could make for a long wait in line so enter the stadium early if you can.

Not Playing Tonight:  DB-D.J. Hayden, DE-Lamarr Houston, LB-Miles Burris, LB-Kaluka Maiava, LB-Billy Boyko, and DL-Brandon Bair.

Questionable, but more than likely out:  DL-Pat Sims, WR-Jacoby Ford, OL-Menelik Watson, and OL-Alex Parsons.

It may only be a Pre-Season game, and the full offense will not be on display until the regular season, but it will be exciting to see all the new players Raider Nation has been hearing about in-game action.  This team has 60 new players and most of them are not guaranteed anything. They must fight for their position on the depth chart and perhaps their spot on the roster.

Even the starters may not be the starters when the regular season starts, and they could be replaced by a guy who is still on the field well into the second half.  This is why we watch the whole game.  The good part is, Head Coach Dennis Allen said the first team offense and defense will most likely play the entire first quarter.  The number two offense and defense will play the second quarter and third quarter, and the third teamers will round out the fourth quarter.  Of course this is always subject to change, but I hope we get a steady dose of what the Raiders have been working on in practice.

One thing that Raider Nation will be super interested to see is the growth that Taiwan Jones has made at his new position.  I imagine we will get a steady dose of Jones on the defense.  We will finally get to see Charles Woodson back on the Coliseum field in silver and black which is sure to erupt the crowd.  Focus will be on the quarterback play, tight end battle, offensive linemen, defensive line, and the linebackers.  You could say every position will be unveiled in this game with all the new players.

I’m getting really excited to finally see the new team in action.  Get fired up Raider Nation, its game time.
