Madden 25 Update: Oakland Raiders Team

Well Raider Nation, I didn’t spend all night playing Madden 25, just about 4 hours worth.  I surfed through all the windows available on the new Madden 25, and I checked out player rankings, team rankings, etc…  I stomped on the San Diego Chargers for my first game 42-17, and this was playing in the Pro difficulty mode.  The only thing I changed was the depth chart, and I started Terrelle Pryor.  Check out Rod Streater on this game, he’s very fast.

You can definitely tell this game was finalized prior to June of 2013.  Charles Woodson still wears #2 (You can change it in the Edit Player Mode), Tracy Porter has #24, and Terrelle Pryor has #6.  Be cognizant to change to manually managing adding and dropping players in Career Mode, otherwise you may lose players that are currently on the Oakland Raiders roster (I lost David Bass and Ryan Robinson during pre-season).  Josh Cribbs made the starting roster too, and he actually doesn’t run too badly on the video game, LOL.

If you’ve played Madden over the past 25 years, you will get a kick out of the still photographs while the game is loading.  I think I have owned every Madden from the first game ever produced in 1988.  I know, I know, sounds kind of sad right?  Well, I’m 40, so the first time I had the game I was 15 going on 16.  In the United States Navy, 18-23 years of age,  it was the thing to play on our off-time.  I had my first kid at 24 years of age, and my kids have played it as well.  So I’m a bit obsessed with football, oh well.  At times I’m a video game addict too.  Could be worse, I could still be living at home with my parents, LOL.

The flow of the game is very nice, much like Madden 13, and it looks very realistic.  The stadium views are nice, and the commentary always cracks me up.  The Madden 25 team doesn’t rank the Raiders very high (Team rating of 74), but in career mode you have a chance to make the rating better by playing good solid football.  One of the worst things about this game is how fragile they make Darren McFadden.  If he takes a couple hard tackles, he gets hurt.  I definitely didn’t like that aspect of it, so I changed it in the “Edit Player” mode.

Passing is very realistic.  Don’t throw across your body or it will get picked off.  If you throw a late bomb down the sideline, it will most definitely either be broken up or picked off, so hit your receivers early.  Defensive packages are becoming more realistic as technology advances, and I really like the Raiders 4-3 and 46 defensive packages.  There’s a lot you can do with Sio Moore, D.J. Hayden, and Nick Roach in those packages.

All in all, I was happy with the purchase of the game, and I look forward to making it to the playoffs for my chance to win the Super Bowl.  I always like to see what they do with the celebrations.  I’m not going to ruin the exciting commentary/presentation prior to the beginning of the game, but I will just say that it gave me goose-bumps when they talk about the Raiders, Al Davis, and the history of the team.  Check it out.

So have fun with the new Madden 25, and let me know how your experience with the game went.

Do yourself a favor and move Latavius Murray up to #2 on the depth chart and swap the auto subs on HB up to like 80 out, 90 in. Murray has a wiggle and a get-it-and-go running style that kill in the game for me. I got 100 yards with him in every preseason game in 2 quarters worth of work each time on All-Pro. Too bad he’s on IR for the real season, but even with a fairly low rating (60s in M25), that boy can scoot.

Thank you for the info about Murray, I will try it out.
