We are all waiting patiently for the Raiders to make their official announcement regarding the players who were cut as the team went down to 53 players on Saturday afternoon. With that announcement being delayed until 6:00 Pacific, the public (and us in the media) have been forced to go to twitter for leads involving the Raiders roster moves.
Scott Bair of CSNBayArea.com was the first to point out one of the few leads since Matt McGloin was confirmed to be on Oakland’s 53 man roster, tweeting that Reggie Smith tweeted that he has been cut from the Raiders.

In the tweet that Bair reported, Smith said that it is “back to the drawing board” and that he appreciates the Raiders for his opportunity in Oakland, pretty much guaranteeing that he was one of the players who won’t be around once the Raiders announce their 53 man roster.
Back to the drawing board I appreciate the raiders for the opportunity. It just wasn’t in the big man plans for me to be here. #TrustInHim

Smith was the 75th overall pick by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Drafted out of Oklahoma where he was the 2007 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, Smith would spend 2008-11 in the Bay before things souring in San Francisco over a lack of playing time in which Smith eventually demanded his release. He signed with the Carolina Panthers before falling in Oakland for the 2013 Training Camp, signing a deal in April.
Stay tuned for more Raiders roster news as we await the official announcement of the 53 man roster at 6:00 PST.
