Oakland Raiders: Early Rumor Indicates DE-David Bass to be Released/Waived

Before Raider Nation loses it over this rumor, remember, that’s all it is right now.  Nothing is official, but Scott Bair of CSNBayArea.com has tweeted that the Oakland Raiders have released defensive end David Bass.

Again, this has not been officially announced yet, but if this is the case, I don’t like this move one bit.  David Bass is a very good player who did well in the pre-season.  So what if he’s undersized, he can play.  Now, if he’s still available by Tuesday, and the Raiders place Jared Veldheer on “designated to return IR,” Bass could be asked back.  Only General Manager Reggie McKenzie and Head Coach Dennis Allen truly know what the plan is.

Unfortunately, the roster move was a toss-up between David Bass and Ryan Robinson.  Too bad the Raiders can’t keep both of these players.  Tough choice in my book, but once again, there can only be 53 plus 8 on the practice squad.  Maybe there are plans in place for Bass to enter the practice squad, and then be moved to the 53-man roster when the Veldheer designation takes place.

For now, we can only take our best shot at making a guess as to who will remain and who will go.  Keep checking back with JBB, and we’ll update you on the 53-roster in Oakland that is beginning to unfold.  Let us know what you think about this move on Twitter (@JustBlogBaby), Facebook (www.facebook.com/JustBlogBaby), or at our website www.justblogbaby.com.

Can’t believe this move. I thought he did enough to prove his worth, and they wasted a draft pick on him.

Wow… I thought we wanted playmakers. I thought Bass was on the bright side of McKenzies draft. I’m hoping for the best for you David Bass…. Good job this preseason and keep digging. Once a Raider, always a Raider.

Not anymore. It’s official. Him and Chase Thomas are first two players cut, and QB-Matt McGloin made the team.
