Game day is less than 24 hours away, and the Oakland Raiders are preparing to take on the Indianapolis Colts in the first game of the regular season. Finally, football is back and tomorrow will be an exciting day for fans across America. Tomorrow marks the first day we, Raider Nation, will get to see the Raiders new team out there playing for real. No practice or pre-season vanilla offenses and defenses, the real deal will be in full effect.
Since the Raiders are taking on the Colts, Just Blog Baby (JBB) took some time to interview and be interviewed by Jeremy Nicholas of NaptownsFinest.com (NF). Jeremy is a sportswriter for NF, and he took the time out of his busy schedule to answer the following questions from JBB:
JBB- This is Andrew Luck’s sophomore year. Do you think there’s a possibility for a sophomore slump?
NF- Luck had a record-breaking rookie season, and it would be hard to improve on those numbers. If any young quarterback can do it though, it’s this guy. The offensive line is still a question, but Luck seems to be getting more confident and in control each week. If the O-line can keep him safe, expect Andrew Luck to be in the talks for MVP this season.
JBB- What is the best thing you like about the Indianapolis Colts this year?
NF- I really like seeing the Colts line up in new formations. The Colts brought in a fullback in the offseason, and they have even ran a few plays in the I-formation. Seeing the change-up in style is exciting.
JBB- What is the worst thing about the Indianapolis Colts this year?
NF- The jury is still out on the offensive line, which had Luck on the run a lot last year. The Colts brought in a few new pieces, to boost up a line that was wrecked by injuries last season, which makes this area one of the deepest spots on their roster. Whether these additions can gel and stay healthy, is still a question.
JBB- What is your most favorite Colts moment from your lifetime?
NF- I was in downtown Indy after the Colts won Super Bowl XLI, and it was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. The city looked like a sea of blue. It was like New Year’s Eve, with jerseys instead of tuxedos.
JBB- What is your prediction for the Colts in 2013?
NF- I see the Colts going 11-5 this season, and possibly winning the AFC South by a nose, over the Houston Texans. There are a few fringe games that should be wins, but could be traps. Sunday’s game against the raiders is more important than some folks think. If the Colts start strong, it could be a springboard towards a great season. If the Colts slip up against Oakland, their season could get very ugly very quickly.
Great answers Jeremy. I would just like to thank Jeremy for taking the time to answer these five questions for JBB. Keep checking back in with us to see more updates about the Oakland Raiders.
