NFL Week 3 Betting Preview

Each week JBB editor and avid degenerate gambler Chase Ruttig gives his picks against the spread. Here are his Week 3 selections

TITANS (-3) over Chargers

Tennessee has looked good to start the season, beating the Steelers and losing to the Texans in overtime. I expect them to get the job done against San Diego who have been equally as surprising to start 2013. This will be a fun game to watch.

VIKINGS (-6.5) over Browns

Cleveland may have the defense to stick around with Minnesota, but they traded in their fortunes with Trent Richardson this week. I expect the Football Gods to punish the Browns with a big day from Adrian Peterson.

Bucs (-7) over PATS

New England is 0-2 as a touchdown or higher favorite already this season.

Texans (-1) over RAVENS

So much of what Baltimore does goes through Ray Rice, his injury is going to set the defending champs back.

COWBOYS (-3) over Rams

Cards (-7) over SAINTS

Larry Fitz and Carson Palmer withstood the Lions weapons at home last week, they will stay within a touchdown against New Orleans this week after the Saints barely squeaked by the Bucs last Sunday.

WASHINGTON (-1) over Lions

RGIII and the Redskins need a win eventually, right?

Packers (-3) over BENGALS

Even though they won on Monday Night Football , Cincy’s offense did not look crisp with Andy Dalton missing a lot of passes by an inch or two. He won’t get away with that against Clay Matthews and the Packers.

Giants (-1.5) over PANTHERS

Eli Manning is not the type of quarterback to let his team go down 0-3, he came close against the Cowboys and stuck close against Peyton and the Broncos, against the Panthers the Giants know it is a must win if they are going to make the playoffs this year.

Falcons (+2.5) over DOLPHINS

The bookies may not respect Atlanta’s near run to the Super Bowl last year, but I am seeing the value in the Falcons still this year. Miami is coming of an impressive win over the Colts, but the Falcons will knock them back to earth on the road.

Colts (+10) over NINERS

Andrew Luck and ten points to work with for a Colts team that is getting new excitement thanks to the Trent Richardson trade? I will take that bet.

Jaguars (+19) over SEAHAWKS

Very rarely do such high lines happen in the NFL and very rarely do those favorites cover such a high line. These are pros, even if they are the Jaguars they know how much they have been disrespected and will keep it close. They will need to find a way to score points and approach this game with caution, but I just can’t pick an NFL team to win by three touchdowns.

Bills (-2) over JETS

Coming off their two exciting finishes at home to start 2013 the Bills head on the road 1-1 and with the feeling that they can claw into an AFC East race with E.J. Manuel, first they will have to prove that against the 1-1 Jets who also stayed within a field goal against the Patriots. I like Buffalo and the Jets got lucky in their only win against Tampa Bay which came at the hands of a 15 yard penalty on the final play of the game, they won’t get handed this game. Take the Bills

Bears (-2.5) over STEELERS

The Steelers have already lost on prime time this week, normally that would lead to going with Pittsburgh, but these aren’t the Steelers of the 00’s we are used to. Jay Cutler and the Bears offense will be much more potent than Cincy’s display on MNF and the Bears should continue Mike Tomlin’s nightmare of a start to 2013.
