Each week Just Blog Baby editor Chase Ruttig gives his picks against the spread. Here are his Week 5 selections. Odds from Bet365. Home team in CAPS.
TITANS (+2.5) over Chiefs
Tennessee has shown moxie this season and has been a very good gambling team for me, Kansas City has to lose at some point this year and I think that after having the benefit of playing the Giants they will come to a halt against the Titans.
DOLPHINS (-2.5) over Ravens
Baltimore are a veteran team that could bounce back so tread lightly, but I like the Dolphins still even after their MNF loss.
Jaguars (+10.5) over RAMS
This game is just awful, but I can’t take the Rams covering more than two scores against anybody. Even Jacksonville.
Lions (+7.5) over PACKERS
This line seems REALLY high. Take the points.
Editor’s Note: This pick was made before Calvin Johnson was ruled inactive. The line is now 9.5, but Chase advises you stay away from this one.
Saints (-1) over BEARS
Saints offense > Bears defense. We found out last week that high flying offense can beat Chicago, now it is up to the Saints to find a way to do it on the road.
GIANTS (-1.5) over Eagles
Tom and Eli have to find a way to get it done eventually, it should come against the Eagles weak secondary if it ever comes in 2013.
Panthers (-2.5) over CARDS
Mike Glennon won’t be starting for Carolina, because of that I think the Cards defense is in for a tough Sunday. They needed a furious fourth quarterback comeback and a lot of freebies from Glennon to beat Tampa Bay, I don’t think that happens to Carolina after a bye week.
Broncos (-7) over COWBOYS
I still can’t bet against Peyton Manning. The Cowboys also are a terrible home team to gamble on.
RAIDERS (+4.5) over Chargers
Underdogs are 8-1 ATS in this recent rivalry, Pryor’s return gives the Raiders even more of a pull with me. A late night crowd at the O.co that should be loud pushes me fully onto the underdog
Texans (+4.5) over NINERS
In a game that will see the Texans blitzing challenge Kaepernick I am going to go with the 4.5 points in a game that will be decided by a field goal late.
