Oakland Raiders-New York Giants: Darren McFadden and DJ Hayden ruled out for Sunday, Giants Victor Cruz probable

After a tough loss to the Eagles last Sunday, things have kept getting worse leading up to their Week 10 meeting with the New York Giants. Running back Darren McFadden and cornerback D.J. Hayden have been ruled inactive by Dennis Allen and did not make the trip to the Big Apple. Offensive linemen Matt McCants was also ruled out on the team’s injury report.

Phillip Adams will replace Hayden at corner while Rashad Jennings will continue his role at running back, one that he has been admirable in whenever McFadden has had to leave the field for extended periods in 2013. Against a motivated Giants defense that has been talking a lot leading up to the game, Jennings will be looking to make his mark as a feature back in Oakland with McFadden out of the picture.

Hayden hurt his groin in practice this week making his situation worse after a game where he was put on blast for allowing two easy touchdowns to Eagles WR Riley Cooper. It appears that the rookie will have to get healthy before he attempts to turn the perception of Raider Nation about their 12th pick in the draft into a positive one.

The most intriguing roster change stemming from the Raiders injury report will be rookie Menelik Watson earning his first NFL start against the Giants in lieu of McCants injury. Watson played well when he was on the field against the Eagles, but with Jason Pierre-Paul guaranteeing a big game and Justin Tuck occupying space on the Giants line the rookie will need to be on his best on Sunday.

As for the Giants star wideout Victor Cruz has been reported as probable. If he winds up playing on Sunday the Raiders secondary will be in for even bigger of a challenge than the one they faced last Sunday going up against the Eagles receivers with Eli Manning behind center.

Following are the injury reports of both the Raiders and the Giants. The full inactive list will be out tomorrow morning.

Better win out now. Quit being so mediocre on interceptions. …Get open past 10 yards already. Use Marcel for the love of God!

If Olson can’t design plays to get Reece the ball at least four times a game then he is as useless as Knapp.

We’ll miss Hayden. Can’t say we’ll miss McFadden since he hasn’t shown up all season.

Way to step up and get open past ten yards. Failure of coaching and lack of integrity…….
