Woke up from a nightmare last night, I dreamed that the Raiders couldn’t get off the field on third down. Third and shorts, Third and longs didn’t matter. I kept dreaming the Ryan Fitzpatrick was moving around in the pocket avoiding one of the Leagues best pass rushes like he was Randell Cunningham or something. I also dreamed that the normally aggressive Raiders defense decides to Rush 3 and drop the rest into coverage during a 2 minute drill type situation oh and lets not forget the sure footed kicker leaving 6 points on the field then turning around and throwing your holder under the bus DURING the game…….you get the picture here. It was not a stellar day for the Raiders, but lets put this all in perspective. They weren’t supposed to even be competitive let alone competing for a playoff spot going into Thanksgiving!! That gives me hope and promise that this regime knows what they are doing. So lets give them time. Below are my Game balls for this week:
Well Offensively, the only real bright spot was Matt McGloin. He looked like a rookie early but the settled in. With his sole TD pass being a beautiful, pressure filled 27 Yard TD pass to Marcell Reece in the North end zone. The I must say is probably a play the Pryor does not make. Reece was much more involved this week, which due to injuries he didn’t have a choice. Rod Streater had a very good game as well. (5 for 93 yards) but also lost a fumble, but my Gameball goes to McGloin.
Defense got worked. Gave up over 450 yards, 10/18 on third downs….I repeat 10/18. That is horrific. A lot of the credit is due to veteran QB Fitzpatrick on handling a lot of the pressure. However, as I’ve said all week, they still did their job. They kept the Raiders within reach and it never got out of hand. I give them credit for that, but otherwise pretty poor effort from the secondary. If Fitzpatrick can do that, just imagine what Romo can do for the first 3 and a half quarters Thursday (see what I did there?). Nick Roach gets my gameball for flat out balling yesterday. He was a one of the only real bright spots yesterday. 7 tackles, 1.5 sacks and Forced Fumble. Not to bad for a days work. I also saw today that Roach has played every defensive snap for the Raiders this year. That is quite the impressive feat. Gameball: Roach
Well, We know what SeaBass did and Didn’t do. King, was average. If I see Jacoby Ford back taking punts the rest of the season, I might just hurt myself. He has lost all confidence and swagger he once had. He is a meek, shell of the once feared returner. Also, HOLD ONTO THE DAMN BALL! Ok, I feel better. I have no game balls to give to this unit.
