NFL Week 13 Betting Preview

Each week Just Blog Baby editor Chase Ruttig gives his NFL picks against the spread. Here are his Sunday selections for Week 13. Home teams are in CAPS, lines from Bet365.

After a 5/6 Thanksgiving betting column (damn you Ravens -2.5) I am hoping on staying on track and making you all some money this Sunday. No prop bets, just straight spreads. Games are getting harder to pick which means separating the men from the boys as December comes to a start this afternoon.

EAGLES (-3) over Cards

A battle of two hot NFC teams looking to make a huge step towards the playoffs with a win. Even though I have been critical of Chip Kelly throughout the year for being hot and cold in his first season as NFL head coach, this is a game where the Eagles should come out flying after a bye. Arizona struggles moving the ball on the road and the Eagles playmakers will do just enough to secure a needed home win to start off the final month of the regular season.

VIKINGS (-1) over Bears

Chicago couldn’t contain Zac Stacy last Sunday, I expect a similar game story when they are trying to tackle Adrian Peterson all afternoon.

Jaguars (+7) over BROWNS

Rule number one of gambling: Don’t lay over a touchdown on Brandon Weeden.

JETS (-2) over Dolphins

Both these teams have been inconsistent, but I have a hunch that Rex Ryan’s blitz packages might give the Dolphins offensive line some troubles today. If Geno Smith can avoid another Mark Sanchez meltdown the Jets will be able to scrape this out. A toss up game so tread lightly.

Patriots (-7) over TEXANS

Things can’t get much worse for Houston, going against the now red hot Patriots, they just might.

PANTHERS (-7) over Bucs

Hate going -7 in a divisional game late in the season, but the Panthers have been really good this season, good enough to lay a full touchdown against the underrated Bucs.

TITANS (+4) over Colts

We aren’t too far removed from these two teams dragging out a heavyweight clash of AFC South teams on Thursday Night Football, this game will be just as close. Think Indy pulls it out again on a devastating drive from Andrew Luck to kill the Titans playoff hopes, but this one will stay within a field goal.

Falcons (+4) over Buffalo (CANADA GAME)

Buffalo is terrible in all of their games in Toronto, Atlanta has enough playmakers. This game sucks too much to get into it more than that.

Rams (+7.5) over NINERS

I have been impressed enough with the Rams since November that I like them keeping this a one score game. Good run game, good pass rush. Decent enough secondary to deal with the Niners. As long as they can tackle Frank Gore, this game will be close.

Broncos (-6) OVER Chiefs

I like Peyton Manning after a soul crushing defeat just a little bit more than I like Andy Reid and Alex Smith. That might be the understatement of 2013.

Bengals (-1) over CHARGERS

This is a trap game for San Diego going against the 7-4 Bengals coming off the bye and with an offense that will seriously challenge the weak Chargers defense. I don’t think the Chargers can play as consistently hot as they did against the Chiefs for consecutive weeks against elite opponents, even if they are returning home. Andy Dalton beats Phillip Rivers in a battle of “Who is the least Shaky QB”

WASHINGTON (-1) over Giants

I really don’t know what to make of this game other than the fact that it is probably going to be painful to watch and Bob Costas is going to make us feel really awkward again. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN YOUR 2013 WASHINGTON RED(RA
