2014 NFL Scouting Combine: Tight end 40 yard dash results

The 2014 NFL scouting combine is in full swing this Saturday and with linemen taking the stage the marquee event of the 40 yard dash takes a step back. That doesn’t remain true with the tight ends as several prospects showed that the new era of tight end is here to stay with some eye popping times in the 40 in Indianapolis.

Colt Lyerla helped distract from his character issues and suspension for a cocaine arrest with one of the best times for tight ends running a 4.47. Eric Ebron also showed off his impressive speed with a 4.5 40 yard dash while Jace Amaro ran a 4.62 to round out the notables.

Two intriguing prospects had to bow out of the 40 due to injury as Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Troy Niklas both sat out and will likely instead run at their pro day.

The complete results are as follows:

Jace Amaro: 4.62

Trey Burton: 4.50

Anthony Denham: 4.62

Eric Ebron: 4.50

C.J. Fiedorowicz: 4.80

Crockett Gillmore: 4.81

Jake Murphy: 4.72

Jordan Najvar: 4.85

Marcel Jensen: 4.75

Reggie Jordan: 4.53

A.C. Leonard: 4.43

Colt Lyerla: 4.47

Arthur Lynch: 4.68

Jacob Pederson: 4.78

Richard Rodgers: 4.84

*Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Joe Don Duncan, and Troy Niklas didn’t run the 40, all due to injuries.
