League sources report "nothing imminent" in Jared Veldheer, Raiders talks

Earlier we reported that Christopher Hansen of Bleacher Report was told by a source that Jared Veldheer agreed to terms with the Oakland Raiders on a 5 year, $55 million deal with a sixth year option and $22 million guaranteed. Hansen reported that the deal was definitely not signed, and now league sources are reporting that there is “nothing imminent” in the ongoing Veldheer/Raiders contract negotiations.

NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport updated on the situation saying that the Raiders have offered as expected and that Veldheer is likely planning on looking at his options over the weekend when the March 8th open availability for teams to talk to potential free agents begins.

This is obviously a development we will be keeping an eye on over the weekend as the Raiders continue their talks with Veldheer and hope to hammer out a deal. With Hansen reporting that a deal has yet to be signed it was very likely that conflicting reports were going to come about as Veldheer still hasn’t put pen to paper and there is a chance that he continues to test free agency. It is encouraging that there are reports coming out that Veldheer is agreeing to terms of the contract, but most in Raider Nation will likely be disappointed to hear a conflicting source saying that nothing is quite certain yet.
