2014 NFL Free Agency: Owen Daniels released by Houston, hits open market

Just Blog Baby will be covering every minute of the 2014 NFL Free Agency frenzy this March. Check in daily for breaking news, analysis and predictions from the talented JBB team and new staff writers.

Without a veteran tight end on the roster despite having three talented prospects in Mychal Rivera, David Ausberry and Nick Kasa the Oakland Raiders might be interested in exploring their options for experienced tight end options during free agency.

One of those options may be Owen Daniels as it was reported by the Houston Chronicle that the Texans have released their second leading all time player in receptions after missing action with a broken leg for parts of 2013.

If Daniels is truly healed from his fractured fibula he should be one of the top tight end targets when free agency opens. The Raiders have higher priorities, but it wouldn’t hurt to take a look at a veteran like Daniels who has a reputation for making catches for his entire career from Houston. Expect Daniels name to be thrown around the league throughout the morning and afternoon as he becomes one of the latest players to hit the open market.
