Rodger Saffold Update: Rams have "no issue" with Saffold's shoulder, sign for five year deal

After a tepid day of free agency surrounding the Oakland Raiders that boiled down to meetings with several key defensive FA’s and no signings, the Raiders are now joining the free agency madness as expected free agency addition Rodger Saffold has failed his physical and has resigned with the Rams on a five year deal.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter the Raiders had concerns about Saffold’s shoulder injury after a physical and balked at their five year, $42.5 million deal they offered to the former Rams player. St. Louis then went and claimed the saw “no issue” with Saffold’s physical and locked him back up to a five year deal.

It will be interesting to see league/fan reaction to this latest update as many thought that Oakland was getting out of a bad contract offered to Saffold under a panic following the loss of left tackle Jared Veldheer. With the Rams taking Saffold back with no worries it will be interesting to see how the Raider Nation, and the league pundits view the recent developments out of Oakland. More news is likely to come before the end of the night as the Rodger Saffold/Raiders era has ended before it even started. Whether that is a blessing or a blow to the Raiders rebuild is another question, but going into the night down another offensive linemen questions continue to surround the Bay Area franchise.

Well at least now all my brother and sister Raider fans can get their panties out of a bunch about this Saffold deal ha ha. We have a long off season and there are other linemen that can be signed, drafted or traded for.

Weird that HIS agent “has no concerns with saffolds shoulder”. That proves that he’s fine! HAHA

Saffold failed the physical. Back to the drawing board. They better have coloring areas. Pop ups for strategy. …

HAHAHAHAHA That’s awesome!!! Way to go Reggie

I’m speechless, in awe of the stupidity

He played as a guard with a bad shoulder, lots do it their whole careers.

He is a great LT prospect with a bad shoulder, that’s not the same thing. Tackles have to extend their arms more and a shoulder injury is far more critical.
He rolled the dice and did not get it repaired, as he knew he was hitting the market. Rams knew all along and took him back as a guard right away.
Glad we caught it, Tampa would have had him at LT as well.

Raider fans should be rejoicing that Reggie has learned.
BTW…. Al would have fallen in love with him, and refused to void the contract, and then spent 18 months rehabbing him.
My bet is… he stays at guard and is a pro-bowler, then fixes the shoulder after his career, or attempts surgery and takes another shot at LT money.
