It seems Reggie McKenzie is a fan of Just Blog Baby. Last night I wrote a post about the Raiders fray into free agency so far and mentioned the need to re-sign one of the games legendary players. Tonight, it was announced by ESPN’s Josina Anderson, that Charles Woodson will be coming back to the Silver and Black for one more year as he and the team agreed to a one year deal. While the specifics of the deal are still not known, I can say that this will make Raider Nation very happy as Woodson has always been a fan favorite and in all likelyhood will retire as a Raider after this season.
This latest signing is also in line with what Mckenzie has been doing since free agency has started. Bringing in proven veterans, with championship backgrounds and a desire to win football games. A vast majority of Raiders fans tend to agree that Reggie Mckenzie is doing a stand up job so far with his latest acquistions and can see that these moves are being made to bolster depth, provide leadership and establish a winning culture. Whether this actyally happens in the coming season is yet to be seen. But so far, these moves are leaving a much maligned fanbase with hope for better days to come.
Of course this signing will more than likely be panned by others as just another old player, signing his last check with a terrible team. In actuallity, Woodson was very productive last year as he started all 16 games, recorded 97 tackles (75 solo), three fumbles, two sacks, two recoveries and one interception. If this is what an older veteran in the twilight of his playing years is supposed to do, then I say- “Old Guys Rule”. Good job Reggie Mckenzie, Welcome back C- Wood!
