Legendary Oakland Raiders coach Tom Flores weighs in on Desean Jackson

Desean Jackson is the hot topic across the NFL and especially in Oakland as the star wide receiver who was released by the Eagles has became a cult hero around the Raider Nation over the weekend.

On Sirius XM’s NFL Radio legendary former Raiders head coach Tom Flores stopped by the program to discuss the late Ralph Wilson as well as answer some questions about the Oakland offseason.

After praising the moves of Reggie McKenzie and Dennis Allen so far as well as expressing his disappointment in the departure of Jared Veldheer, Flores naturally was asked about Desean Jackson and the Raiders interest in bringing him in.

The former Super Bowl winning head coach had an interesting perspective on Jackson, alluding to the fact that the Jackson development has been going around in league circles for awhile now and that he is confident that the Raiders front office has done their due diligence so far in terms of checking out his character and background. Flores also defended Jackson to an extent and said that he is a talent the Raiders “could use” that would be “a huge plus”

Well, I certainly don’t think DeSean Jackson is the cancer Terrell Owens was, or Randy Moss for that matter. Not sure what happened in Philly, but whatever the reason its still going to be a huge loss for them. Personal dislike, egos, attitudes sometimes get in the way of seeing the big picture. Chip Kelly I’m sure is not immune to it either.

Cancel your redskins meeting on Monday!! We already beat them in a Super Bowl!!! Now let’s take away what they think they are getting again!!

  • Steve Romero

We could really use him in the stacked AFC West… Raiders have one of the most difficult schedules this year, he would make it easier on the Raiders to compete.

  • KloverJane

    He’s right.

  • Dro722

We do have the toughest schedule in the NFL

I would love to see Djx on the roster for the up and coming season, he would creat many double coverages
man I could just see it , will see what Reggie and his staff want to do with the wide out.

  • Chris Kelley

I agree. Jackson would be a huge pick up, and put some much needed butts in the O Co. seats.
