Report: Raiders may have Evans ahead of Watkins

And so it begins….Something I saw as a very real possibility for the Raiders. A recent report from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reveals the Oakland Raiders may have Texas A&M wideout Mike Evans ahead of #1 prospect Sammy Watkins.

A very intriguing report indeed, because if the Raiders do covet Mike Evans over Watkins, it would definitely open up the possibility of a trade down.

While Watkins is an elite prospect, he is still only 6’1 compared to Evans who towers over defenders at 6’5. The Raiders coud feel a big target would be a greater asset than the quick, speedy Watkins.

Remember in the NFL there are two things you cannot teach, that is Speed and Size. Evans has the size, but proved at the combine he has the speed too, running a 4.53 40 yard dash.

Been hoping for this for months. We have speedy guys. We need a big guy just like this for redzone plays especially

I’d take either guy Vic. We did trade away our last Clemson wide out however. Jacoby…lol
We need the 6’5″ fantasy player for a change.

Great!! Cause I know I do.. I watched the games not too much of the media hype around Watkins

  • GoRaiders

Saw Watkins and Evans sitting next to each other in an interview. Looked like Jon Jones next to Frankie Edgar….Evans arms and hands right next to Watkins looked like they were about a 1/3 longer and I would rather have a guy that can go up for the ball in the end zone. We all know Watkins wont be waiting at 5 anyways and Evans is a better match for Schaub…..would make me feel a little better about the whole passing on Calvin Johnson thing too if he pans out.

Taking Mike Evans over Sammy Watkins is insane. Evans is good but Watkins is simply better. It seems like a simple, logical decision to go with the best player. But it’s the raiders so who knows. If they know what’s good for them, they will go with Watkins or Mack.

And I know that Oakland would make public their intentions for everyone to see, wouldn’t they.
