After leaving the Raiders first padded practice of 2014 following a hard impact to his helmet, it was assumed that standout wide receiver Rod Streater picked up a mild enough of a head injury to miss some practice time at 2014 Training Camp in Napa. Those thoughts were confirmed on Monday when Streater was inactive, officially being ruled out with a concussion in following the NFL’s set protocol surrounding head injury.

Here’s to hoping Rod Streater is being kept out of practice as a precaution and it’s nothing serious. Would be a MASSIVE loss for #Raiders

Streater should be handled very carefully by the Raiders coaching staff as there is tons of time to get a player who is expected to be one of the team’s top wideouts on the depth chart ready for the 2014 regular season. Risking his health and further head injury problems down the road for practice or preseason action. Streater should be able to return in plenty of time to have the productive 2014 that everyone is expecting of him, but risking him in July would be a moot point for the Raiders as they will need Streater plenty come the fall when the games count.
