After a long offseason following a second straight 4-12 season under head coach Dennis Allen and general manager Reggie McKenzie, hope springs eternal on Friday evening as the Oakland Raiders kick off the 2014 NFL season calendar with the first of four preseason games this August in preparation of an expected improved season for the Silver and Black.
Friday’s preseason opener will be a road game against the Minnesota Vikings as the Raiders first team defense will be looking to welcome Vikings first round draft pick Teddy Bridgewater to the NFL when the two teams collide at TCF Bank Stadium where the Vikings will play as their new stadium is being built.
With players on both teams looking to impress their individual coaching staff’s and earn places on the 53 man roster come Week One, expect an intense first preseason game between the two teams. Especially from the Raiders, who have intense competition battles at running back and wide receiver that will need to be settled in a short amount of time.
