The Raiders returned to Napa for a short stop in the tail end of their short 2014 Training Camp before travelling to Oxnard for shared practices with the Cowboys this week leading up to their preseason home opener against the Detroit Lions this weekend at the Coliseum.
Following an impressive 2014 debut, cornerback Chimdi Chekwa was absent on Monday morning for the Raiders final training camp practices in Napa as the fourth year defensive back sat out with a knee injury according to CSNBayArea’s Scott Bair.
In Chekwa’s place fourth round draft pick Keith McGill was given first team reps at the nickel corner position during the light Monday practice before the team travels to Oxnard for anticipated joint practices with the Cowboys.

McGill’s start to Training Camp in Napa was slowed by an injury he picked up during the team’s conditioning test prior to the start of practices, something that has caused McGill to fall below promising late round pick TJ Carrie in the battle of rookie cornerbacks looking to earn snaps come the regular season. With Carrie having an impressive game agains t the Vikings, those who saw McGill as the more promising prospect due to his intriguing size may have to wait to see him get consistent snaps on the field with Carrie performing but some first team snaps show that he is getting back on track following a minor injury
