After Rolando McClain said he couldn’t wait to “put pads” on the Oakland Raiders during the shared scrimmage practice between the Silver and Black and the Dallas Cowboys in Oxnard it was actually the Raiders who were doing most of the hitting, getting into a brawl with the Cowboys during an intense afternoon session.
Following a tackle on Mychal Rivera the Raiders took exception to, several players on the offense decided to back up their second year tight end in what turned into one of several “brawls” between the two teams who have played each other a lot in recent memory.
Fans who decided to travel down to Oxnard definitely got rewarded with some intense football as both the Cowboys and Raiders took exception to each other’s intensity in the opening practice of the two day sessions. Following a preseason loss it will be interesting to see if the midweek violence translates into needed momentum and chemistry for the Raiders going into their home preseason debut against the Detroit Lions on Friday night at the Coliseum. If Tuesday’s practice was any indication, the Raiders are fired up and ready to play.
