After the first preseason game, I started keeping score of the position battles that I thought were of the most interest. Of course, the preseason opener was Round 1, I counted the joint practices as Round 2 and Week 2 of the preseason as Round 3. In giving you my score of Rounds 2 and 3 in the last article, I decided to leave the quarterback battle out because it needs it’s own article.

So now, we have Matt Schaub vs Derek Carr for the undisputed quarterback of the Oakland Raiders. I gave Carr the first round 10-9 because he looked poised and pretty good but mainly because Shaub’s arm looked shot. I had to blindly give Schaub Round 2 because all the reports about the joint practices had Schaub carving the Dallas Cowboy’s defense up. So now we’re on to Round 3, to break the tie.
