Breaking News: Raiders Make First Round of Cuts

And so it begins….The Oakland Raiders have announced their first round of cuts, releasing seven players. According to Raiders.com, the Raiders are now down to 83 players on the roster. The deadline to get down to 75 is on Tuesday August 26th.

A few obvious choices, but also a couple of disappointing cuts. Mike Davis and Rahsaan Vaughn could not make an impression at the wide receiver position, a position of need for the Raiders.  Torell Troup the second round pick of the Buffalo Bills in 2010 was also released.

Early in the offseason I thought Mike Davis had a long shot at making the team, but the signing of Greg Little and the play of Brice Butler left little room for the undrafted free agent.
