During Sunday’s pathetic effort against the Miami Dolphins there was a sense that head coach Dennis Allen would not survive and 0-4 record heading into the bye week. Owner Mark Davis could only take so much and being embarrassed on an international stage where a Raiders defense showed little heart was simply too much to justify keeping the much maligned Allen around.

At least according to Adam Schefter, who is reporting that Allen will be fired very soon during the team’s bye week. A lengthy losing streak dating all the way back to last season ultimately sealing his fate as after two straight 4-12 seasons it appears patience is now wearing out for Mark Davis.

Schefter also reports that Tony Sparano will take over as interim head coach if Allen is fired, contradicting Jason La Canfora’s report that the team was considering offensive coordinator Greg Olson as a potential candidate. Something that probably went out the window as the Oakland offense crawled to yet another sub-21 point performance in London.

Terry Collins of the Associated Press initially reported that sources told him that Allen would be fired as Rqiders head coach, but as of 8:30 PM Oakland time the AP reporter has deleted his tweet according to Schefter. So the drama may not be over yet, but at the very least a rumored early week firing will be in the forefront as more reports are sure to come in the next 24 hours. Stay tuned to JBB as we attempt to stay up to the minute on the fallout from the Raiders 0-4 start.
