Next up in Just Blog Baby’s coverage of the 2016 NFL Draft is a breakdown of Mississippi State defensive tackle Chris Jones.

Wrapping up the series of potential first-round options for the Oakland Raiders, is Chris Jones someone who should be considered with the 14th pick?

Let’s get into the film.

Impressive burst, violent hands and tremendous power.

Jones works through a double team and makes a play in the backfield.

Jones’ effort can be a bit of an issue. He seems to take a handful of plays off per game, and he can be lazy in pursuit behind the play.

Three consecutive plays in this clip that show how good Jones can be. Play one, Jones shows off some speed-to-power conversion. Play two, he holds up at the point of attack, disengages cleanly and makes the play. Play three is another run stop, where Jones easily tosses the lineman to the side before making the tackle.

His burst off the line is eye-popping. Only reason why he doesn’t get the sack here is because he was held. This happens often.
