Former Oakland Raiders offensive lineman Khalif Barnes was arrested for a DUI in the East Bay according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Much maligned former Oakland Raiders tackle and current free agent Khalif Barnes is under hot water this Monday, and it isn’t for his infamous false starts as Barnes is facing legal trouble after a DUI arrest in the East Bay. Bad news for the free agent lineman, whose time in Oakland appeared to be over for good even before Monday’s report of Barnes being arrested in the Bay Area hit the news wire.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Barnes was arrested for the suspicion of DUI and was held until he sobered up before being released. This being the second time that the veteran offensive lineman has been arrested for driving under the influence after being arrested for a DUI while with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2006.

The Chronicle also reported that Barnes’ agent has declined to comment on the arrest for the suspicion of DUI which led to his arrest.

This recent news is not good for Barnes, who is a repeat offender and won’t be warming over any NFL teams as he looks for employment in 2016 as a 33-year-old backup offensive lineman. The best bet for Barnes was to sell a team on him being a dependable and experienced veteran to bring into the locker room, something that will be difficult after being arrested in the city of his most recent employers. This could slam the book shut on Barnes story in Oakland where he has been a longtime veteran and even end the final chapter on Barnes’ decade-plus long run in the NFL.
