Las Vegas Raiders DE Maxx Crosby’s Madden 21 rating is a joke

Maxx Crosby dominated as a rookie for the Raiders last season, but that was not enough for the people at Madden to rate him as an elite player.

The then-Oakland Raiders selected Eastern Michigan defensive end Maxx Crosby in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and at the time, it looked as if he would be brought in to provide depth. The Raiders had already taken Clemson star Clelin Ferrell with the No. 4 overall pick in that draft, and while he was expected to come in and be a starter, Crosby was not.

Well, it was Crosby who ended up taking Raider Nation by storm, racking up ten sacks in only ten games, including four against the Cincinnati Bengals. For a rookie with very little expectations, Crosby was one of the leaders on the Raiders defense, and will be look at as a cornerstone player for years to come.

Recently, Madden 21 began releasing their ratings for all the players in the game, and Crosby was downright disrepute by the game in terms of his rating. In fact, the big fella himself took to Twitter to discuss with EA Sports the rating.

Why I can understand that he is only entering his second season, and was not a big-time draft pick by any means at the time, this is downright laughable. Crosby was in the running for Defensive Rookie of the Year all season long, and finished his rookie campaign with better stats than the eventual winner, Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers.

Bosa vs. Crosby

For those keeping score at home, Bosa was given a rating of 89 by Madden 21.

As rookies, Crosby had three more tackles than Bosa, and one more sack. In addition, he had four passes defended against Bosa’s two, and forced four fumbles against Bosa’s one. Even though Bosa won the ROY, their ratings should have at least been closer than 12 points apart.

Of course, Bosa did help the 49ers to the Super Bowl, which helps in terms of him being considered a more impact player during his rookie season. However, Crosby was able to come in and perform along a defensive line that was lacking the talent San Francisco’s was, making his ability to get to double-digit sacks even that more impressive.

dark. Next. Las Vegas Raiders could look a whole lot different in 2021

This is a video game we are talking about here, so it is not the end of the world, but Crosby was passionate enough to tweet about it, so I am passionate enough to write about it. Crosby already plays with a chip on his shoulder, and hopefully that chip just got bigger with his sorry rating in the video game.
