So far this season, the Oakland Raiders, have lead us on a crazy journey. From extreme high is to extreme lower (like last week’s loss against the Kansas City Chiefs). This season has been crazy and unpredictable from game one. One thing that is been consistent for the last four games has been the play up Darius Hayward Bey!

Hayward Bey is the top wide receiver for the Oakland Raiders, statistically, and in spirit for the last four games. In our last game verses the Kansas City chiefs, DHB was targeted 11 times. That would be consistent with being the” go to guy” on the team.

DHB has taken on the leadership roll of the wide receiver corp. Our wide receiving corps is so young, that DHB is considered a veteran with only three years in the league. DHB is playing like a man possessed. He playing like he is mad at the NFL and me likey! Crabtree who?

Now, to the subject at hand, is DHB considered an elite wide receiver? Statistically I would say no. Is DHB a fantasy option now? I would definitely say YES! With the acquisition of Carson Palmer, I think Darius Hayward Bey’s statistics are only going to get better in the last four games. DHB has flirted with or achieved 100 yards receiving in the last four games. Carson Palmer has two weeks to prepare for the Denver Broncos. He also has two weeks to become BFF’s with the DHB! I see good things in the near future for both.

Is Darius Hayward bay is available in your league, pick him up now! Don’t expect Wes Welker type numbers but expect consistency. I would use him as a second or third wide receiver or a flex position. (Definitely a #2 in PPR leagues!)

GO RAIDERS!

What the hell happened Raider Nation? I just got out of I.C.U. from the whooping we took by the New England. I fully expected us to actually beat the Patriots last weekend. Everyone at my work doubted my prediction but hey, we owned the Jets the week before. I was confident…… was.

We played like we did the second half against the Bills, confused. Chuck B’s defense was lost and Jason Campbell looked like a dear in head lamps. We hung for the first half but then Brady decided to release the Welker. We had no answer from that little wide receiving hobbit. He had over 100 yards before the half. Even the Pats 3rd string running back had a great day against out Swiss cheese style defense. (What ever his name is.) I mean we had a season high of 504 yards of offense but a season low 19 measly points. Once again yellow flags and missed opportunities again plagued us.

There were a few good things that happened this week, DHB finally passed the 100 yard mark in a game (3 years later), and Nick Miller was released. Oh yes, and Coach Jackson said “We are going to win the AFC West”. (Not sure if he saw or defense’s performance on Sunday.)

This weekend we face the red hot Texans who are coming off a big win against the AFC Champion Steelers. The Texans are no joke and will probably be our toughest competition all season. They are stacked on offense and defense. They will be with out their main offensive weapon WR Andre Johnson. (Oakland DB’s your prayers were answered.) But we still have to face the beast who is Arian Foster. Being that we couldn’t stop a 3rd string RB from the Pats, I imagine we will be seeing a lot of Foster during the day. Chuck B better make chicken crap into chicken salad fast!

All in all, I still love my Raider, always have, always will. I hope our defense can step it up this week and shut down the Texans. I also hope we have a Luis Murphy sighting this weekend!

The fantasy football season is upon us! If you play FF, this means you are up to your knees in magazines, stats, sleeper notes and are tired of ESPN’s lame “experts” running their collective mouths. (Like you Sapp. Feel free to shut that trapola.)

The reason for my article is to take a look at the Raiders from a fantasy football perspective. We will start with Darren McFadden. DMC is a top 10 running back who should have another strong year. The big question marks to ponder are does Campbell have the ability to keep our defense off the field and keep 8 men from stacking the box on DMC. If Jason Campbell can have another productive year, and the line shows signs of life, I would take DMC in the top 10 of the RB’s possible 2nd or 3rd round. (This week’s game will show you what you need to see if he plays.) Michael Bush is a solid 4th RB (in deeper leagues) and a great #2 if DMC goes down.

Jacoby Ford is the man. He was the spark plug that kept us in many games last year. He single handily took over the KC game in Alameda last year. As for fantasy value, Ford is a great 3rd WR option on your team. If you get points for kick returns/yardage/points, he is a super safe 3rd WR option. Now if rookie fenom Denarius Moore get the kick return job, it will devalue Ford tremendously.

On the other hand, if you play in a deeper league (12+ teams); Denarius Moore and or Jacoby Ford are both great 2nd or 3rd receiver options. The way “D-Mo” is playing, he might be starting over everyone. (Hopefully he kicks DHB out of his starting job.)

Kevin Boss is a solid tight end. Having said that, I would not touch him in a fantasy draft at all. There are 25 or more other TE’s that have more upside then him. Also, Campbell is having a tough time finding him in pre season. Plus he has a hurt knee from the last game. Personally, I would love to see my boy David Ausberry from Lemoore, California make the team and take over as the number two TE. (I can dream right?)

Sebastian Janokowski is well Seabass the Polish Cannon. I refuse to talk about kickers in this draft preview because they are always a coin flip at best!

Raiders to stay away from in your draft: DHB, Chaz (broke down) Schilens, and the Raiders D. (Don’t get me started on that. That’s a whole different article.) We will wait to see what roll Luis Murphy has after his injury. Would love to see him play the slot and eat up some safties and line backers.

Remember, do not draft with your heart! Good luck!
