]]> A new day is upon us Raider Nation. These are very awe-inspiring times to be a member of the Raider Nation. We are opening a new chapter in the legendary and historic Oakland Raiders franchise. A chapter means, a new year, new team, new coaches, new ownership, new general manager, and a new front office. It is as if we are a new-fangled NFL expansion team wet behind the ears.  Gone are the days of covert practices and media black outs. We are witnessing a birth of a fresh new football design from the ground up.

The general of our new army is Reggie McKenzie. Raider Reg is assembling a dream team of coaches, front office, scouts, and players to get us to the next level. Reg wants to help change the philosophy, mentality, and the look of the Oakland Raiders. In doing so, he has virtually expunged any and all of Al Davis’ D.N.A. left on the team.  (Minus Mark Davis and his Lloyd Christmas hairdo.) He wants to change the Raiders from the leagues “punch line” to the leagues most feared franchise. I’m am so ready for that!

I am geared up and standing by for every little bit of information that is leaked out to us. It’s exciting to watch the foundation being built for my all time favorite sport franchise. Most of us Raider fans have endured the dark years suffering from the ridicule of our NFL rivals/friends. Those jokes for the most part have subsided a bit in the last few years but will continue until we turn that proverbial corner. Myself, I have tolerated the Commitment to Mediocrity for years and years as a member of the nation. I look forward to walking to work, looking at all the Raider haters in their eyes and just smiling. Not a word needs to be spoken to the haters when you are at the top of the NFL, but you bet your ass I will be talking loud and clear!

Cable secretly met with Shell this week.

In preparation for Pittsburgh this week, Tom Cable decided to meet up with Art Shell. Since Shell was the last head coach of the Raiders to beat the Steelers, Cable sought his counsel.  

Through anonymous sources, JBB was able to attain a transcript of their conversation.

Tom Cable: Coach Shell, thanks for taking the time to meet with me.

Art Shell: Anything to help the Raiders beat those Steelers!

TC: That’s the spirit!

AS: So, what can I do for you?

TC: Well, back in ’06 you were in the same boat I’m currently in while preparing for the Steelers

AS: Yep.

TC: The Steelers were defending Super Bowl champs then just like they are now.

AS: Yep.

TC: You were a lame duck coach then just as I am now.

AS: Yep.

TC: Your offense then was as bad as mine is now.

AS: Time out, Cable. We were scoring in double digits at least.
