Both Mark Sanchez and Rex Ryan were warned. These aren’t those Raiders. Those Raiders allowed Mark Sanchez enough time to down a dog with mustard on the sideline. These Raiders almost made so that the only way Sanchez would enjoy any food is through a straw. An early 10-point deficit became a 10-point win as Oakland bested New York 34-24 in the East Bay opener.

These are Hue Jackson’s Raiders. A group that doesn’t read GQ. Maybe Sanchez can fool photographers with flashy poses but he can’t trick Richard Seymour and the rest of the Raiders’ front four.

All day long the Silver and Black left Sanchez and company black and blue. Oakland is quickly becoming the destination for must-see-TV. Another thrilling game that this time thankfully ended in a Raider W.

In case you’re still sleeping on Darren McFadden you might want to stop hitting the snooze. Dude is playing like an MVP candidate and if you don’t believe me just ask Clown Coach Ryan. Run DMC walked his way all over the Jets en route to a 2-TD, 180 total yard effort. In fact, McFadden becomes the first ever runner to eclipse the 100-yard barrier in the Ryan era and Oakland’s 224 rushing yards are the most allowed by the Jets since the fat man has patrolled the sideline in New York Jersey.

And if all you do is read box scores then you have no idea how well Jason Campbell played today. From a man that has been as critical of JC as I’ve been it comes with great pride to admit fault in how perfectly Campbell has played this year. Today, Campbell threw a perfect game as he made the right decision on every snap.

Don’t let the numbers fool you. Campbell might have only passed for 156 yards but every one counted. Not to mention the fact that the Raiders played turnover free football which put them in position to win despite a sluggish start.

Coach Jackson’s bully is building momentum.

Before there were any padlocks plastered on gates leading to NFL facilities nationwide it was a well known fact that this was going to be a much different offseason for the Oakland Raiders. It seemed as if every player of any importance to Oakland’s success was going to be a free agent. In addition there wasn’t much wiggle room near the cap ceiling thanks to an allotment of dead money.

All in all this was going to be an offseason of difficult decisions for Al Davis.

One decision that was a no-brainer was to retain the services of Stanford Routt. This was a given since the only thing more certain than Nnamdi Asomugha’s departure was Tim Tebow’s benching.

While Routt may not be comparable to Nnamdi he has more than proven himself capable playing opposite Asomugha. The same cannot be said for any other cornerback currently on the roster.

You could actually argue that replacing Routt’s role is more difficult than filling Nnamdi’s shoes. Just ask DeAngelo Hall how difficult it is to be on the other side of a shutdown stud like Asomugha. While Routt is no Nnamdi, whoever starts opposite Stanford is sure to be seen as the better bet to throw on.

So the bad news is that the Oakland Raiders are still in the market for a veteran cornerback to help soften the loss of Nnamdi Asomugha. The good news is that Raider Nation won’t be driven crazy by the up and down play of Antonio Cromartie as the free agent corner is reported to be in agreement to return to the Jets for $32-million over the next four years. Oh…this also leaves room to give Zach Miller more cash and that’s a very good thing.

To me, this is not such a bad thing. Cromartie is clearly an upgrade over Chris Johnson and any other Raider corner not named Stanford Routt. While Cromatrie is a playmaker capable of playing at an elite level from time to time he was not a good fit in Oakland.

Cromartie’s ability to stay focused week in and week out only rivals that of a video game geek fresh out of mom’s basement and into the E3 Expo. How he would have quickly adjusted to Oakland’s man principles seemed impossible. For reference just think DeAngelo Hall.

Still this doesn’t change the fact that the Raiders are Asomugha-less with only a wish and a prayer that the young corners will develop rapidly enough to be relied upon in all game situations.
