The Niners overcame a comedy of special teams errors to send Oakland to 0-2 in the preseason thanks to a listless 17-3 loss.

So far during Hue Jackson’s bully construction he seems to have forgotten about his tools to reconstruct last season’s offense. Injuries play a hand in how out of sync Oakland’s O’s is but that excuse along with preseason jitters is getting old already.

To be sure there were a few flashes from the up and coming Silver and Black talent that’s got to make Al Davis feel vindicated. But overall this team as a whole is still looking very listless with only two more tune-ups left.

Jobs are on the line. Time is running short. Injuries are becoming more troubling. Strap yourself in tight Nation, this is looking like a bumpy ride. Here are my game notes for take two of Coach Jackson’s directorial debut

- The Red Zone is still a dead zone for Oakland. Jason Campbell is the symbol of Oakland’s out of sync offense. At this point play-action is the only thing that works. His receivers (including Darrius Heyward-Bey) are bailing out his bad throws. Plus he’s still gun shy, doing the sensible yet maddening thing by playing it safe and not throwing across his body when Kevin Boss is more open than a Denny’s next to a bar at 2:00am on a Saturday morning.

- Campbell’s performance is not his only issue as JC went down late in the first half with what we hope is not a head or neck injury of the serious or mandatory inactivity variety.

- If JC is in danger of missing time Trent Edwards did himself no favors with his few token snaps in the first half. His what were you thinking INT was an underthrown toss into double coverage. Kyle Boller started after halftime and took every snap in the second half. At this point the QB position is pretty irrelevant. Just One TD in two games.

In a time filled with so much uncertainty you would think the Raiders would use the draft to find potential contributors in all their areas of need. Well, the 2011 draft began with that in mind then quickly devolved into an Al Davis stopwatch party.

Here is the Oakland Raiders’ draft class of 2011.

More than a legacy pick - Stefen has the game to go with the name.

Stefen Wisniewski, C, Penn State – (2^nd round, 48^th overall) – There were plenty of rumors flying around that the Raiders had their sights set on Colin Kaepernick but that went out the window once the 49ers moved up to grab the Nevada QB. After it was all said and done the Raiders got the man they had atop their draft board all along. We all know about what the Wisniewski name means to the Raiders. All that aside, Stefen is his own man and would have been a solid selection no matter who is uncle is. It just so happens he’ll be learning the pro game from Uncle Steve. Stefen addresses an area of immediate need as he’s expected to compete with Samson Satele for the center gig or figures to be one of the starting guards. Either way the heady Nittany Lion arrives with some big expectations following him.

Wisniewski is Silver and Black. What could be more natural?

This is unless that man is Colin Kaepernick and the 40-Whiners jump in front of the Raiders to nab the Nevada thrower.

But that is neither here nor there.

What is here and now is that Stefen Wisniewski will be learning the pro game under the careful tutelage of his uncle as the Raiders selected the former Nittany Lion with the 48^th pick in the 2011 draft.

Since folks first starting mocking the draft way back when the NFL season ended most had Wisniewski on the Raider Radar. And why not? Wisniewski immediately fills an area of need as he figures to be a starter at either the center or one of the guard positions.

With Robert Gallery gone, Samson Satele in limbo and Cooper Carlisle on his last legs, there are three job openings Wisniewski will have the opportunity to compete for.

Since the Darrius Heyward-Bey shocker three drafts ago, the Raiders have taken a more sensible approach to drafting. In a year when they had no first round pick the Raiders have found great value in Wisniewski, a player that at one point was seen a late first rounder.
