With regards to the actual game itself the Vegas point spread means next to nothing. The Vegas guys are more concerned with turning a profit than giving realistic odds on a game of football. But the Raiders should realize there is a reason why the Miami Dolphins are three point favorites heading into Sunday’s contest.

On the surface it would seem the odds makers missed as badly as Tim Tebow trying to throw on the run.

Thus far this season the Raiders have resembled the Mad Max sequel cause they’ve been Road Warriors. Oakland has lost just once in five road games this season. Meanwhile until recently the Dolphins couldn’t win at home if they were playing the University of Miami.

In recent weeks Miami has made a dramatic turnaround. Well…not dramatic enough to stay out of the Matt Barkley sweepstakes, but they are playing some inspired ball.

As for the Raiders…they’re riding a three game win streak while trying to fend off the Fighting Tebows in Donkey Town.

So…umm…why exactly are the Fins favored?

Projected Starters: Stanford Routt, Tyvon Branch, Hiram Eugene, Chris Johnson

Noticeably absent from the names listed above is, of course, Nnamdi Asomugha. The combination of a convoluted contract married with a labor stoppage has created a free agency limbo in which football’s best cover corner currently resides.

Imagining a future without Asomugha Island is hard to digest. Let’s not even mention how rarely opposing QBs even look his way. One of the bigger voids left by Aso’s potential departure would be in the locker room and in the community.

Few players in modern sports are truly role models. Nnamdi is that rare athlete as his athletic prowess is matched only by his charitable work.

Losing Nnamdi is more than just losing an All-Pro. He’s also the best possible face of the franchise and has been a pillar of the community. There is no way to replace him.

This isn’t fair and I know it. My goal is not to do Walter McFadden like folks in Idaho are doing Kyle Brotzman right about now. I’m just stating my belief that Jeremy Ware was unfairly deactivated at the wrong time.

No, McFadden’s poor play on Sunday was not the only reason why the Raiders got demolished by the Dolphins. A non-existent running game, terrible quarterback play and Michael Huff taking worse angles than a NASCAR driver having a stroke mid-race shared as much of the blame.

Chad Henne knew Nnamdi Asomugha was going to be limping around the field Sunday. So he first went after the injured All-Pro. Once Aso took a seat, it was open season on McFadden as Davone Bess and company picked on the rookie from Auburn.

Now, by no means am I making the argument that Ware would have locked down the Dolphins. Given the way Ware played the previous week in Pittsburgh it came as little surprise that Cable would deactivate the rookie corner.
