Well…if you wanted a measuring stick to determine where the Oakland Raiders stand in the NFL hierarchy then today should have told you all you need to know.

We didn’t need Carson Palmer tossing picks juxtaposed against Aaron Rodgers throwing TD darts to know who is the better QB. Just as we didn’t need the Packers putting this one away with one running play to know who was the better team. Don’t fool yourself. Ryan Grant put this game to bed with a first quarter, first official play from scrimmage 47-yard house call that set the tone for an ugly 46-16 loss.

Make whatever excuse you want, Raider Nation.

Sure, Oakland was again short handed.

Ok…the Packers were gifted a few questionable calls.

None of that had anything to do with Hue Jackson’s men posting another effort only the Indianapolis Colts would envy. In fact, I’ve seen more heart from those winless Colts than I have the silver in black the last two weeks.

That sound you hear are the hopes of Oakland playing in the post-season slipping into the depths of the East Bay.

For now let’s forget about the playoffs. Instead let us focus on all the reasons why the Raiders aren’t a playoff contender any longer.

To begin with they continue to be their own worst enemies. All those pre-snap penalties are again the sign of an unfocused team. For Oakland’s defense to continually jump offside against Rodgers shows how insecure they were today. It proved that Chuck Bresnahan’s defense knew they didn’t have a chance. It also shows how much further this team has to go before being considered among the NFL elite.

You know the drill. It’s just over 24 hours until kickoff and you need to get lowdown on the opposition.

Fear not my friends!

JBB is here to help you get ready for those Packers and their pursuit of perfection.

In order to get you that insight only JBB can provide we reached out to the resident cheeseheads of FanSided over at Lombardi Ave.

Ray Rivard, the editor of Lombardi Ave., was kind enough to give us a slice of his time. Now he may think Aaron Rodgers is going to punch holes in Oakland’s secondary like a slice of Swiss but will Ray meltdown like a piece of Kraft American in the grilled cheese that is JBB’s patented 5 quirky questions?

To find out how Rodgers does you’ll have to watch the game. To see if Ray crumbled like blue cheese on a wedge salad or stayed strong like the scent of Muenster under the pressure of our questions all you’ve got to do is read on.

Q: If Mike McCarthy were a cheese, what kind would he be and why?

A: Well, Mike is not the big cheese, a cheese ball, and isn’t always looking to say cheese, so he’s got to be cheddar cheese – it is whitish to orange in color and firm. Like cheddar cheese’s main ingredient, whole milk, Coach McCarthy is the cream of the crop. And his ability to create a fine mix of players should make him a wonderful addition to sandwiches and an ingredient in cooked foods.

Q: What took longer: Aaron Rodgers to win a Super Bowl or Brett Favre to announce himself as the Kanye West of football?

A: I think what has taken the longest and something for which we are still awaiting is Favre’s admission that the biggest mistake he made was leaving at the wrong time … It was the best time for one Aaron Rodgers, but the beginning of the end for Brett. And yes, Brett’s a diva.

All week long we’ve been expecting this. Today Hue Jackson made it official. Darren McFadden, Jacoby Ford, Denarius Moore and Taiwan Jones have all been ruled out for Sunday’s game in Green Bay. For those that are fans of track and field just think of it as losing an entire 40-second 4X100 relay team.

Even with a full compliment of offensive weapons it was going to be a tough task for the Raiders to slow the Packers’ roll. Right bout now Aaron Rodgers and company are hotter than a pair of twin babies in an M-cedes with the windows up and the temp goes up to the mid 80’s. Shout out to Eminem.

Speaking of Slim Shady, the Raiders might as well be on Eight Mile cause they’ve only got one shot to shock the world.

Hey, any given Sunday, right?

The Silver and Black are 11 point dogs to the Pack. Last week the Dolphins were giving three and we know how that turned out. Hopefully Coach Jackson will get a better effort from his team. The Mile High Jesus has caught them and he’s not looking likely to stop doing what he does best.

That is why it is important for Oakland to refocus. You never know what might happen when you give it your all. For all we know this could be the week the Pack hits the snooze on game day. While they’re sleeping the Raiders could blow in like the autumn wind and take what’s theirs.

Games like this are what being a Raider is all about. That should be the message Jackson leaves his team with before they take the field. Shorthanded or not we’re still talking about paid professionals who are fighting for their playoff lives.

The Raiders might not have the biggest dog in the fight but you know the saying. After all, there is nothing more dangerous than a wounded animal.
