The first domino in the AFC West coaching carousel has fallen. This morning the Kansas City Chiefs relieved third year coach Todd Haley of his duties. Norv Turner would be advised to screen calls while actively seeking out the next sucker to give him a gig.

As for Haley and the Chiefs, this was a move that seemed almost overdue. Last year’s fluke AFC West crown wasn’t even enough to keep Haley off the hot seat. He was rumored to be on the outs even after taking the Chiefs to the playoffs. Hard to imagine that warm personality of his didn’t win over more folks in BBQ country. In case you’re not catching the sarcasm there Haley is about as modest as LeBron James in a house of mirrors.

Known for his abrasive nature and fiery temper, I’m sure Haley did his best to insult more than enough people he crossed paths with. Josh McDaniels being one of the more public instances. But, honestly, who can get along with McD? I know…Lane Kiffin…that was a rhetorical question.

I hope you’ve got your seatbelt buckled cause its going to be a bumpy off-season ride. Yesterday, Nnamdi Asomugha did his now annual ESPN rotation spending a day in Bristol where he lent his face, voice and opinions to the sports network.

Naturally the biggest question he was asked all day long was about his future. Ever the portrait of professionalism, Asomugha said a Raider return is still very much a possibility.

“I would love to be back but I do have options, so we’ll have to see what happens.”

While the news of Nnamdi keeping his Raider flame flickering is heartwarming you can’t help but feel as if Aso is that hot chick with a douchebag boyfriend. In this case, the d-bag role is being played by Al Davis.

Whatever the case, if Asomugha’s Raider roots still run deep enough then I say unto Al: “Show him the money!” Oh, but there is one catch. Asomugha indicated that he’d only be on board if, in fact, Hue Jackson assumes the reins.

“Jackson was with us during the 8-8 season, and that was the best season we’ve had in the last eight years. So he understands the players and knows what it takes to win. So I think bringing Hue along has to be the right choice if you’re getting rid of Tom Cable.”

While it seems like a slam dunk that Jackson will take over, Al is certainly taking his sweet time. With the Donkeys naming John Fox as the McDaniels replacement, the Silver and Black are the last coach-less franchise standing. What exactly is the holdup? We’ll just have to wait. As of now, Nnamdi is keeping hope alive.
