Kingdon’s tenure in Oakland lasted an amazing 33 years yet his seniority only meant he was a part of the former regime. This is McKenzie’s show to run and from day one he’s reminded everyone of that.

Last week word spread that the Raiders were a potential landing spot for Joey Clinkscales a former high school and college teammate of McKenzie’s and soon-to-be former VP of college scouting for the New York Jets.

No matter who McKenzie does bring on board rest assured it will be someone that matches his expectations. Kingdon might not have done anything to deserve being shown the exit but it was inevitable. In truth this is just a part of the process. Some will point to Mark Davis and his desire to move on from his father’s legacy. Others will just chalk it up to McKenzie wanting to hand pick his personnel.

Whatever you call it this is just basic house cleaning. It began with Hue Jackson’s dismissal and will continue through the next offseason when even more financial moves are made to rid the franchise of bad contracts and scholarship employees. Not calling Kingdon underserving of his position because the Raiders have found some real talent in the draft in recent years. This is just business and McKenzie is in the business of doing things his way. Even Al Davis would have to appreciate that.
