If Dennis Allen wants to have a defense that features multiple fronts then he’s going to need guys like Pat Sims. Thankfully for DA his GM, Reggie McKenzie, gets that so that’s why he went out and got Sims. Got that?

On the free agency radar the signing hardly showed up but on Sunday it will be impossible to ignore the 335-pound defensive tackle in Silver and Black.

Sims will give the Raiders a true nose tackle necessary for the occasions in which the team utilizes the 3-4 which is sure to happen given the type of players being brought in to Oakland this offseason.

An Auburn alum and Ft. Lauderdale native, Sims attended Dillard High school which has cranked out its fair share of professional athletes over the years. A third round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals back in ’08 Sims has been a rotational player starting only 23 games in his five years of NFL service registering 5 sacks and even racking up his first career INT last season.

But when it comes to nose tackles you’re not looking for major production so much as you’re looking for major disruption. So long as Sims can push would be blockers into the backfield making life miserable for running backs and uncomfortable for QBs then his presence will be very much felt.
