Before anyone starts the pity party let’s remember we’re talking about paid professionals here. That being said it is bad timing for the injury bug to bite seemingly every member of the Raiders’ secondary except for Stanford Routt and Tyvon Branch.

Michael Huff is still dealing with a concussion issue. Chris Johnson has officially been ruled out. Rookie DeMarcus Van Dyke has been dealing with a knee issue. Not nearly as important but both Matt Girodano and Jermoe Boyd have also suffered “dings”.

But as Hue Jackson says: “next man up”. Just like when the receiving corps was limited in Buffalo Denarius Moore stepped up and stepped into a starting gig.

Who’s going to be the Denarius Moore of the secondary?

Both Mark Sanchez and Rex Ryan were warned. These aren’t those Raiders. Those Raiders allowed Mark Sanchez enough time to down a dog with mustard on the sideline. These Raiders almost made so that the only way Sanchez would enjoy any food is through a straw. An early 10-point deficit became a 10-point win as Oakland bested New York 34-24 in the East Bay opener.

These are Hue Jackson’s Raiders. A group that doesn’t read GQ. Maybe Sanchez can fool photographers with flashy poses but he can’t trick Richard Seymour and the rest of the Raiders’ front four.

All day long the Silver and Black left Sanchez and company black and blue. Oakland is quickly becoming the destination for must-see-TV. Another thrilling game that this time thankfully ended in a Raider W.

In case you’re still sleeping on Darren McFadden you might want to stop hitting the snooze. Dude is playing like an MVP candidate and if you don’t believe me just ask Clown Coach Ryan. Run DMC walked his way all over the Jets en route to a 2-TD, 180 total yard effort. In fact, McFadden becomes the first ever runner to eclipse the 100-yard barrier in the Ryan era and Oakland’s 224 rushing yards are the most allowed by the Jets since the fat man has patrolled the sideline in New York Jersey.

And if all you do is read box scores then you have no idea how well Jason Campbell played today. From a man that has been as critical of JC as I’ve been it comes with great pride to admit fault in how perfectly Campbell has played this year. Today, Campbell threw a perfect game as he made the right decision on every snap.

Don’t let the numbers fool you. Campbell might have only passed for 156 yards but every one counted. Not to mention the fact that the Raiders played turnover free football which put them in position to win despite a sluggish start.

Coach Jackson’s bully is building momentum.

Before he even served the first day of his 20-month sentence Plaxico Burress was rumored to become a Raider upon his release. Nothing really shocking there. About the only thing less imaginative than linking knuckleheads to Oakland is Rebecca Black’s song writing.

Every year there is some locker room cancer looking for a new gig and without fail the Silver and Black suddenly have a horse in a race they never even entered.

It’s easy to understand where the notions come from. Al Davis built the reputation of his franchise on the backs of misfits and knuckleheads. Of course that was over 30 years ago. Recently Davis has taken a much different approach to building his roster. Blowing $39-million on a QB who craves Krispy Kreme more than he does football will do that.

Davis has officially changed his policy. Too bad the rest of the speculative media hasn’t.

Even if the Raiders have any interest in securing the services of Burress once the lockout is lifted there is nothing that indicates he’d be a good fit in Oakland.
