Filling the shoes of Al Davis is impossible. There is not a single human being currently breathing that can replace Mr. Davis and all that he did for the Oakland Raiders franchise. This has been and will continue to be a total team effort. This morning word spread that the Raiders took their first steps in finding one of the individuals necessary to move forward after the passing of Davis.

As you might expect the search has begun with (what else?) a candidate with ties to the team. One time L.A. Raider and current director of football operations for the Green Bay Packers Reggie McKenzie interviewed for the vacant general manger position in Oakland.

As you might expect just the news of the on-going process alone is cause for speculation.

Recently Hue Jackson expressed his desire to be a part of the GM vetting process. Certainly that makes plenty of sense as Coach Jackson will be working closely with his new general manager.

Nothing at all salacious about that. But since we’re talking about the most infamous franchise in all of sports you had to know somebody was going to stir the pot.
